Aerona (Air & Sea) Customs Clearing Agents Ltd is a privately owned, leading Customs Clearance and Freight Forwarding company dedicated to helping businesses and individuals import and export goods efficiently from and to anywhere in the world.

As part of staff planning and projected increased customer base, we have identified the need for another confident, enthusiastic individual who will be eager to join our growing team.

 

The Role

As a Customs Clearing Officer, you will provide professional and effective administrative support to the Customs Clearing / Multimodal Team by engaging with current and potential clients, with the aim of building long-term customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete day to day shipping tasks for all modes of freight by creating, managing and maintaining the correct documentation, Bill of Ladings and Tariff headings as each case progresses maintaining data input accuracy.
  • Manage customer queries and provide accurate advice
  • Telephone and/or written communications with external organisations (e.g. HMRC, Port Authorities, Shipping Lines, Hauliers etc)
  • Assist with regular Health & Safety duties and any other ad hoc duties as and when required.

You will play a key role in following up with existing leads and customers, and generating new business opportunities by engaging with potential clients, introducing them to our services, and building long-term relationships. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are confident, outgoing, and eager to work in sales and logistics.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience using Sequoia, DataFreight or similar software.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly to people at all levels with excellent telephone, administrative, IT and Customer Service skills.
  • A confident, outgoing, and enthusiastic personality.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage your own diary and prioritise tasks.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel etc).
  • A positive attitude, resilience, and a willingness to learn about the logistics industry.
  • Punctual and good timekeeper who is proactive, self-motivated and flexible with a mature approach to work.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet/exceed deadlines, work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Good standard of education with minimum of GCSE Maths and English Grade 4 or C (or equivalent).
